It’s hard to save money and keep track on your spending… sometimes very hard. However, we’ve found some fantastic online sites and tools to help you save money and stay in control of your finances.

Here are our favourites;

TheBirdy.com

TheBirdy.com is a relatively simple idea that extends on keeping notes of your spending. At the end of each day, TheBirdy will send you an email. You simply need to reply to this email with a few keystrokes to let TheBirdy know what you’ve bought and how much you’ve spent. The site will then keep track of your spending and offer you easy to understand charts, graphs and insights.

We think this is a great way to keep track of your spending and encourage you to spend less each week.

MoneyDashBoard.com

MoneyDashBoard.com allows you to collate all your accounts into one dashboard. This is perfect if you have several accounts, loans or credit cards and will save you having to switch through all your different accounts to see your money situation. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea (especially those who don’t like to be reminded about their account balances!), but it offers the ability to set budgets, see where your money is going and tag transactions so you can group expenses into different pots.

It’s a good way of staying organised with your money.

TopCashBack.co.uk

Before buying anything, you should register on a cash-back site such as topcashback.co.uk and check if the retailer offers you cash back. It’s surprising how many do, and you could easily get 10% cash back for something you were going to buy anyway! These sites are pretty straight forward and your cashback can soon add up. Why wouldn’t you use one? topcashback.co.uk screenshot

HotUKDeals.com

This is another site to check before buying something. Just go on, have a quick search for the item you’re buying and see if there are any current deals in the UK. The site is community run and this ensures that even discounts in your local supermarket are usually picked up and posted about!

One thing to bear in mind with this site is to try and not look at other items (that you might not need to buy!). Sometimes the offers are so good that you can end up buying something that hadn’t even crossed your mind! – This happens to me quite a lot unfortunately.

    I use Hot UK deals quite a bit to see what is out there. I really like how they list competitions from TV shows with the answer. You never know you might win some cash

      It can be pretty addictive though! :) As long as you have will-power to avoid buying things you don’t need, it’s a great site.

    The birdy is simple to use yet effective in helping me keep track… plus I just like the Birdy concept- less serious and more cool!

    MoneyDashBoard.com works quite well and is very good for keeping everything organised.
